A tale of two cards 2

Hi guys, resuming back another discussion session with this section of A tale of two cards. Today we are going to discuss and evaluate these two cards in BT11.

Today we are going to discuss about these two cards: Goddess of Good Luck, Fortuna and Ravenous Dragon, Battle Rex. So which is better and how do I use the cards?

BT11-003-RRR (Sample) VS BattleRex
Goddess of Good Luck, Fortuna's Effect:
[AUTO](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Soul Blast (3)] When this unit's drive check reveals a grade 1 or greater «Genesis», you may pay the cost. If you do, put the card from that drive check into your drop zone, and perform an additional drive check. [ACT](VC):[Soul Blast (3)] This unit gets [Power]+5000 until end of turn. [CONT](VC/RC): Lord (If you have a unit that doesn't belong to the same clan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)

Ravenous Dragon, Battle Rex Effect:
[AUTO](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):When this unit's drive check reveals a grade 3 «Tachikaze», choose one of your rear-guards, retire it, and this unit gets [Power]+10000 until end of that battle. [AUTO](VC):When this unit is boosted by a «Tachikaze», this unit gets [Power]+3000 until end of that battle.

Fortuna
Lets 1st analyse the uses of fortuna. Firstly, for fortuna's effect to trigger, you need to reveal a grade 1 and pay the cost of soul blasting 3 to perform and additional drive check to gain an extra drive check.

Pros:
It will be good to apply constant pressure on your opponent for them to guard No Trigger pass all the way. So Do I always get a trigger? No... Genesis is a type of deck that will soul charge a lot and there are times where triggers will get soul charged under your vanguard. It is good for filtering the unwanted grade 1s, 2s and 3s during late game to lucksack a trigger out of it. Performing a Drive check that reveals a draw trigger may or may not be good for ya if you have your triggers stacked and may hasten up the trigger. Anyways another question is what if i drive check 2 grade 1s and above? Can i use the effect and stacked it? The effect of the 1st drive checked can be used and so long as you have enough soul to pay its cost.and to therefore the 1st checked has to be resolved 1st then the other one can be performed. Means you drive check a g1, you can pay its cost as much as you want until you get a trigger. before the second drive check.

Cons:
Whats the worst trigger to drive check while ya at 4 damage? A fucking heal trigger. A heal trigger and a grade 1 for your drive check is enough to make you either facepalm or flip tables on this card. A draw trigger might also kill you as you dun want to draw a trigger with a draw trigger. The other bad side of it would be if you abused it too much, it will eat up your soul and leave you soulless which in other words impotent once a genesis vanguard has no more souls under them. Another cons of it would be a trigger soul charged by your rearguards effect, which would decrease the chances of pulling a trigger.

Battle Rex
So how about Battle Rex? For Battle rex effect to takes in effect, It just needs to drive check a grade 3 and pay the cost of retiring one tachikaze rearguard to gain an additional 10k attack. Oh so its similar to Goku where all your grade 3s are 10k triggers. So in other words, 8 Grade 3s + 16 triggers = 24 triggers. 50 - 1 starting vanguard = 49. Assuming you have 24/49 triggers. That is about a 50.50 chance of pulling triggers.

Pros:
It apply great pressure on your opponent with a whooping 20k additional power if a grade 3 is drive checked. which the maximum power it can get would be a 38k vanguard with a 8k vanilla booster and assuming your opponent has a 11k vanguard, he would need to guard 30k no pass every turn, if he want's to be safe from any damage. Therefore, if a double grade 3 were to be revealed, it means ya have to retire 2 units. So what cards do i retire? Below are just some suggestions.

 BT02-034EN RBT08-076 CBT08-033 R
BT08-031 RBT08-080 C

Cons
The cons of it would be a squishy 10k base power where it gets ramped quite easily as a vanguard.

To conclude, I like to say that fortuna is quite overhyped than it actually is. Means its not that good especially where you have to lucksack a lot and you have to pay a huge sum of soul blast to abuse its effect, where i would rather run a iwanagahime where i can clear the front row to push for game. As for battle rex, its good for consistant pressure on your opponent where half your deck is triggers.

Disclaimer: These are only my opinions of what these two cards are, not to be deemed as an absolute answer to what it is. Opinions may be slightly biased to a certain extent.

Jester's Vanguard Riddle

Hi, this is CardFight! Jester here to challenged you all with a vanguard riddle. Here to also introduced our new section of the blog, Jester's Vanguard Riddle.

Riddle no. 1:
I am a maiden that appears in your dream,
To some, I just appeared to be an apparition of the one whom you lost and whom you keened;
To the woods you come searching for me,
I waited patiently and longed for your blood;
I shall drain your spirit and take your soul with me for souvenir and forever you belonged to me,
Chilled like ice you become and your body turned frozen hard.

Who Am I?

Riddle no. 2:
Cold my heart can be,
You are just a toy to be picked up and played by me;
In my prison bars is where you stay and shall only see,
On your epitaph I date with death and a banshee;
Some said my love and affection for her is as deep as the dead sea,
Back from the dead I return for her, I feel so alive and free.

Who Am I?

BT11 part 2: A tale of 2 cards

Sry folks on the late posting of news. x.x I've been busy lately.
Anyways here are more news of BT11 and also tips and my comments about it.

Here is our new section of the blog. A tale of two cards. So what's it all about? We will compare and contrast cards with similar effect. Here is our 1st tale.

Armor Break Dragon
ArmorBreakDragon VS BT07-017EN RR
Armor Break Effect:
[ACT](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (3) & Choose three cards from your hand, and discard them] Retire all fighter's rear-guards in the front row, and this unit gets [Power]+10000/[Critical]+2 until end of turn. [CONT](VC/RC): Lord (If you have a unit that doesn't belong to the same clan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)

What?? CounterBlast 3 + 2 criticals and retire everyone's front row?
However it came with a heavy price of discarding 3 cards from hand.
Is this card strong? I can't give a definite answers but i can share my opinions on it though. After all it is a game full of opinions where there is no definite build in anything.

Lets make a comparison with Reijy. 11k vs 10k. Seems that armor break has better defense based on its attack and not too easily ramped down by cards.
How bout its card effect? Retire all frontrow rearguards on both sides of the field. It can be a double edged sword to use it and has to be timed properly for it to be effective.

How to minus your self with this effect will when your opponent has no rearguards in the frontrow and you have a full field with little cards in hand. That is a -5 for yourself.

So when is the best time to use him? Its when you have 1 or no rearguards and opponent has a full field with a small hand size. This way, you pressure him with a 21k+8k boost with 3 criticals to guard no matter what. Not to forget he would not have any units to intercept as well. Best situation would be a double critical trigger check and your opponent knows he can concede.

How bout Reijy? Many people said 15 soul is hard to get? Is it? If you are following my posts, I have shown you how easy to get the 15 soul with reijy by turn 5 or 6. Its not that hard you know.
Anyways speaking of reijy effect, its simply very consistent with the +2 criticals as long it has a 15 soul under him. Means opponent will get pressure to guard him every turn which is similar to perfect raizer. Whereas what i feel makes reijy strong is its consistency. However its lack of power, cause it to be quite easily guarded by units and opponent need not always need to throw a perfect guard to defend against him.

Do look out for my new post where we compare more new cards to what we already have. and also bt11 supports and releases.
